How to Port Your Airtel Number to Jio: A Step-by-Step Guide to MNP from Home

Switching your mobile number from one network provider to another can seem like a daunting task. However, with the introduction of Mobile Number Portability (MNP), the process has become much simpler. If you're an Airtel user looking to switch to Jio, you can do so from the comfort of your own home.

The first step in the process is to raise a porting request.

This can be done by visiting the Jio website and clicking on "Raise Porting Request". Alternatively, you can also raise a porting request by sending an SMS with the text 'Port' followed by your 10-digit mobile number to 1900. This will initiate the MNP process.

Once you have raised the porting request, you will receive a unique porting code (UPC) along with an expiry date. Make sure to note down this code as it will be required in the next step. With the UPC in hand, you can now apply for SIM home delivery. This means that a new Jio SIM card will be delivered to your doorstep.

When the SIM card is delivered, make sure to keep your proof of identity and proof of address handy for verification. The delivery person will verify your identity and address before handing over the new SIM card.

You can also port your Airtel number via the MyJio app.

Simply download and install the MyJio app on your smartphone. Once installed, open the app and tap on the “Not a Jio user?” option. A pop-up will appear with an option to Port-in to Jio. Click on that option and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the porting process.

The entire process of switching from Airtel to Jio can take anywhere from a few days to a week. During this time, there will be some backend coordination between Airtel and Jio to transfer your number. Once the process is complete, you will receive a notification informing you that your number has been successfully transferred to Jio.

Cost of the process:

According to official sources, porting your number to Jio is absolutely FREE. There are no home delivery charges, no activation charges, and no security deposit.

Conclusion:

Switching from Airtel to Jio is a simple and straightforward process that can be done from the comfort of your own home. With MNP, you can seamlessly move your current number onto the Jio network and enjoy all the benefits that come with it.
